IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT WSBA 62nd Annual Register Now Early Bird Deadline Fast Approaching Register Before Click Here for Schedule of Events Click Here for Conference registration LED STROBE LIGHTS It has come to our attention that vendors in Wisconsin have been selling LED strobe lights to school bus companies. These strobes do not meet Trans 300 specifications. The Trans Rule is clear that the electronic power supply circuit shall provide a minimum of 10 joules to the strobe tube. An LED light is not rated by joules. You will typically see a Class 1 or Class 2 rating on the SAE specification sheet. -There is no school bus manufacturer currently offering a LED strobe light in any state (white on roof). -LED strobes may be recognized by the blue tint it may have. -LED strobes may be recognized by the flash rate exceeding the double flash requirement. Most are 3 or 4 flash per burst. -LED strobes are not as bright as the 10 joule strobes.
